Day 24: N.Y. Pause Extended through May 15
At the Governor’s daily press briefing this morning, he announced the extension of New York State on Pause— the growing collection of executive orders related to preserving New Yorkers’ safety during the Covid-19 crisis. As of today, schools are closed through May 15th, and all non-essential workers must continue to work from home through May 15th. It appears that schools will likely remain closed for a longer period of time, based on guidance released by the White House Coronavirus Task Force this evening.
IEP meetings and CSE annual reviews are still taking place virtually during this period. If you don’t have one scheduled, you should probably consider requesting one. Given the pandemic, your child may be entitled to more than you think. Keep in mind that a “Remote Learning Plan” is not the same as an IEP.
To prepare for your child’s upcoming IEP meeting, schedule a consultation on my website: https://www.msrlegal.org/book-your-consultation. And, continue to follow me, @msrlegalconsulting , on Instagram as I post the latest updates on special needs parenting in the wake of the pandemic.
Stay safe,
