Day 66: Our Unofficial Moving Up Day

For several Long Island school districts, today marked the final day of online learning, and thus became our unofficial “Moving Up Day”. Typically, one or more ceremonial events would mark the culmination of a school year, for example, a Class Field Day, School Concert, Senior Trip, or a Prom. The pandemic has unfortunately changed the usual rite of passage for students across the nation.

For children old enough to understand Covid-19’s impact, the past three months have been a roller coaster of emotions. Feelings of uncertainty, confusion, anticipation, worry, panic or grief, and fatigue have plagued so many households, and mine has been no exception. Life got pretty complicated very quickly.

I’m so proud of all of the children, including my eldest daughter, who weathered the storm with us, asked thought-provoking questions along the way, and most importantly, gave us hope for a brighter future to come. Today, I congratulate all the students who will be promoted to the next level as well as the parents who homeschooled them to the finish line. I hope we all find a fitting way to commemorate the occasion.

I also know that there are many parents who are worried about their child’s ability to advance to the next grade. If you think your child will receive a grade of “F”, “Needs Improvement”, or “Course in Progress”, book a virtual consultation at https://www.MSRLegal.ORG/Book-Your-Consultation. Stay strong,
