Day 10: Is it time for recess yet?

Happy Friday! We made it through Week #2 of mandatory homeschooling. You may not feel like you’ve done a great job playing the role of teacher, but we are all just doing the best we can. And our best is good enough for now.

Homeschooling is tough, even for parents of so-called neurotypical children. I find my eldest daughter constantly (and maybe subconsciously) testing the boundaries posed by the inherent lack of structure at home coupled with my lack of teaching expertise.

“Is it time for recess yet?”, she asked me after going through a series of math assignments together. Well, it is Friday, and we have both certainly earned the break.

For those parents struggling to homeschool their child with special needs and still waiting for resources from their school or district, you do have options. Book a virtual consultation on my website (https://www.msrlegal.org/book-your-consultation) for an analysis of what your child needs while at home, and how best to get it. And then, take a deep breath and exhale. Today, I was reminded to give myself a pat on the back— for the effort.

Check my Instagram page, www.instagram.com/msrlegalconsulting, on Sunday for my weekend recap. Until then, be well.
