WEEKEND RECAP: New York's PAUSE Continues
The latest news from this weekend regarding the pandemic in New York State is the continuation of school closures for Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties through April 15. (New York City’s Mayor previously announced city public school closures until April 20.). Additionally, the CDC’s social distancing guidelines are now extended to April 30 according to the President this evening.
Other important guidance from relevant government agencies are below:
Child care centers are now considered exempt from closures as they are essential businesses.
Medicaid Fair Hearings are now being held as telephonic hearings or being adjourned and rescheduled as telephonic hearings.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) both have exceptions to the prohibitions on the disclosure of health records without consent if disclosure is required by law to lessen a serious or imminent threat to the public health or safety.
A number of guidance documents have been issued on Early Intervention and special education during this pandemic. Book a virtual consultation at https://www.msrlegal.org/book-your-consultation to discuss how these guidelines apply to your child and what your child may be entitled to under the law.
