Day 22: Education for Homeless Children
How do you homeschool if you lack a home?
The children of homeless parents are entitled to the same free, appropriate public education as provided to other children within the State. Like all children, homeless children should have access to the comprehensive education and support services necessary to ensure an opportunity to meet Statewide academic standards.
Amongst these rights are the right to—
a choice of schools, including public preschools, as provided under the law,
comparable busing, vocational/technical education, and so-called gifted & talented programs,
special needs assessments,
necessary educational services, and
school nutrition programs..
If you are a parent lacking a permanent address and facing homelessness, book a free consultation on my website: https://www.msrlegal.org/book-your-consultation. Continue to follow me, @msrlegalconsulting on Instagram as I post the latest updates on special needs parenting in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Until tomorrow, keep safe,
Oroma
