Day 6: De-escalation for Parents and Caregivers

Today’s #MondayMotivation is knowing when to de-escalate our own emotions in order to properly attend to our special needs children. If there’s another parent or caregiver in the home, take turns taking a walk or calling a friend. It’s more important now than ever that we calm our anxiety enough to be emotionally available to care for our kids. Oftentimes, it means putting aside our guilt for prioritizing our health. If we cannot take care of ourselves, we are unable to take care of our children.

It’s important to rely on a network of support to make it through the difficult times. Like the saying goes, “We’re in this together.” Knowing that there are people and organizations in your corner should provide some comfort during this period of uncertainty. What is in your control is the ability to seek out resources for helping you manage your child’s special needs. You can consider MSR Legal & Consulting Services an important legal resource in this pandemic.
