Weekend Recap: 4 to 9 months...

How long will this pandemic last? “4 months…6 months…9 months…” That was the range offered by New York State’s Governor earlier today. It was a very sobering estimate for all those with loved ones who have been impacted by the dreaded disease.

Monday, March 23rd marks the beginning of

  • the second full week of mandatory homeschooling on Long Island and New York City,

  • the first week of Remote Learning for NYC public school students,

  • the first week of Regional Enrichment (child care) Centers in New York City for essential workers, and

  • the first week of “grab and go meals” for NYC public school students.

As the number of reported cases increases, our attention will naturally turn to keeping our children and close family members healthy and safe. But as we #stayhome to #flattenthecurve, we still strive to maintain our children’s quality of life. How do we maintain a similar quality of life for our special needs children with few publicized resources available? How do we keep our kids engaged with learning during this difficult time?
