Day 8: Preparing for Summer

According to the news reports, this pandemic will get worse before it gets better. Many of us are looking forward to the summer as our silver lining to this cloud of fear.

For many families with young children, preparing for summer means choosing between recreational summer camps. But for some parents of children with special needs, vacations and camps must be balanced with an appropriate summer special education program.

I encourage families to be proactive about planning for their child’s extended school year program. This pandemic has NOT suspended children’s special education rights. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act remains in effect.

Book a consultation here to discuss your child’s special education options and the guidance issued by various health and education agencies:  https://www.msrlegal.org/book-your-consultation. Virtual consultations are available across a variety of digital platforms.
